This message is for parents of NJHS members. We have the opportunity to help SERVE with their Operation Turkey on both Thursday, November 17th and Friday, November 18th from 3-5 p.m. Please see the attachment. Because it is after school hours, we are in need of parents who can transport members.  I noticed that a lot of you worked out car pooling amongst yourselves when we had members serve as tour guide for the sixth grade orientation. Is this doable?

NJHS MEETING
The First NJHS meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2010 immediately after school. At this meeting, we will discuss expectations and students will receive a contract to be shared with their parents. Afterwards, we will continue our campaign of "Doing Something For Somebody Else" by cleaning with the custodians.
ORIENTATION
I hope all of you are enjoying your summer but also took the time out to do something for someone else. That will be our theme this year "Simply Do Something for Someone Else!" What better way to start that campaign than to assist with the Parent Orientation scheduled for Tuesday, August 30th from 7 -8 p.m. and the annual 6th grade orientation scheduled for Thursday, September 1st from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.

During the Parent orientation, you will be asked to assist parents whose child or children will be new to Parkside Middle School.

With the 6th grade orientation, you will conduct tours with 6th grade teachers, run errands  and assist rising 6th graders. I am asking that you be in my room, 1534, by 8 a.m. and be prepared to stay until 2 p.m. as we will  also help teachers set up their classrooms in the afternoon of that day. Since this an all day event, lunch will be provided.

Both events are asking for you to be knowledgeable and positive about your school and very flexible. If either of those requests are a challenge, we are asking that you not attend as their will be other activities during the year where you can receive your service hours. If you are available for these activities, please email me as soon as possible. Also, feel free to forward this email to members who did not give me their email address before leaving school as requested.

Finally, attire for both days will be "dressy casual." In other words, gentleman should wear a comfortable pair of trousers and a polo or open collared shirt. Young ladies should show up in skirts, blouses and perhaps sun dresses that do not show very much skin. No T-shirts, jeans or anything with holes.
6th grade orientation
Any new member of NJHS may give their conatct information to Mr. Nicholas, if they want to assist with the 6th grade orientation in August.
